TOO MUCH! a queer performance marathon
Sunday, January 23rd, 2011
Dance Mission, 3316 24th St, San Francisco, CA
Instigated and curated by Julie Phelps and Keith Hennessy in 2010, Too Much! presented some of the years most risky and experimental works by more than 60 artists over the course of ten-hours of non-stop performance and video in 3 simultaneous venues. This year, Too Much! is back for its second year of what promises to be an annual tradition.
Too Much! provides a platform for investigation and negotiation – through live performance and video art – of queer as an aesthetic, and tactic. Working the margins of both mainstream and LGBT cultures, Too Much! strives to offers a temporal community in the borderlands of artistic contagion, exchange, friction, and tourism. Crashing the limits of neatly package identity-based events, Too Much! brings together artists and audiences on the basis of a shared appreciation of experimental, untried, queer art.
Confirmed performers: recent SFBG Goldie recipient Jesse Hewit, VivvyAnne ForeverMORE curates a fierce line-up of experimental drag acts, Laura Arrington, Tessa Wills, Keith Hennessy and many many more!
