From the earliest days of human culture, entertainment has evolved into an art form capable of being performed in nearly unlimited ways on any scale. It can be personal, as in a private viewing of a movie; it can involve an entire dinner table; it can be for one person or a very large group; or it can reach a global audience. While the experience of being entertained has become strongly associated with leisure, it is not uncommon for many entertainments to have a serious purpose such as a ceremony, celebration, religious festival, or even satire.
