Entertaiment is the art of entertaining people. Entertainment can range from food and beverages arranged for private enjoyment to performances staged for audiences ranging in size from two to thousands, and broadcast to global viewers. Many forms of entertainment have evolved from activities formerly used in hunting or war, and many of them have become spectator sports. Other forms of entertainment are based on themes the human mind was evolved to deeply react to, such as social backstabbing and murders.
The word entertain is sometimes abbreviated as entmt on fliers and in industry news publications to save space. This is rarely done outside of these instances.
